The Cross Keys Hotel in Kelso in its present form was built in 1769, but in other forms a Cross Keys hotel has occupied this site since the earliest days of Scottish coaching inns.

The Cross Keys hotel boast 26 bedrooms. As you might expect in a building with such historic roots, and unlike more impersonal larger chain hotels, the rooms are different shapes and sizes which adds to their individual character.

The menus at this traditional Scottish hotel reflects a flair for uncomplicated, tasty modern Scottish and Mediterranean Cuisine. The finest local produce is used wherever possible and many dishes are prepared from ingredients for which the Scottish Borders is famous, such as salmon, beef and lamb. Whether enjoying a refreshment after a hard day’s business or just relaxing for a leisurely drink, the informality of the comfortable Number 36 Lounge Bar is the place to be.

Rooms vary in size and outlook but are decorated to the same standard. There is wifi access in the rooms and complimentary mineral water. The Classic rooms are large spacious rooms, many of which are capable of sleeping a family of up to 2 adults and 2 children. The Cross Keys Hotel can also offer a 2 bedroom family suite with interconnecting rooms and a shared bathroom.

All rooms have ensuite facilities, TV, tea and coffee making facilities and hairdryer.

The Cross Keys Hotel provides an informal and cosy atmosphere for you to enjoy continental style or full Scottish cooked breakfasts. Breakfast is served from 7.30am – 9.30am Monday to Saturday and from 8.30am -10.30am on Sunday. Ideal for an aperitif before dinner or a malt whisky afterwards...

The bar stocks a large selection of malts and is renowned for its Guest Ales including award winning offerings from Weetwood Brewery in Cheshire.

In fact, the bar is unique in so much that its the only place in Scotland that this micro brewery supplies – all because the Brewery Owner and his wife are regular customers of the hotel and if there is room in the back of the Range Rover they bring a keg up for us!

There is also a comprehensive Wine List and the bar staff can even rustle up a cocktail from the ‘House Cocktails’ Menu.

Directions to Cross Keys Hotel in Kelso

There are three major trunk roads within the Scottish Borders; the A1 in the east, the A7 and A68 in the central Borders.

From the North and West follow the A68 to Roxburgh St in Kelso

BY RAIL
The Scottish Borders is accessible by train on the East Coast main line between London and Edinburgh which stops at nearby Berwick-Upon-Tweed. Bus links operate from the town.

The Cross Keys is increasingly becoming the Hotel of choice for anglers and our fishing clientele are amongst our most regular. Situated in the heart of Kelso the Hotel is an ideal base for fishing on the River Tweed, and when you're not fishing, Kelso and the surrounding towns and villages of the Scottish Borders offer many attractions and magnificent scenery for you to enjoy.

A Great Base for Cycling. The Cross Keys Hotel repeatedly welcome cyclists who are very enthusiastic about the quality of their cycling experiences through the countryside.

Explore the many excellent golf course in the Scottish Borders from your base at the Cross Keys Hotel in Kelso. Some may be small, but all are full of character. The local course is the 18 hole Kelso, or the impressive Roxburghe course.
