The Jacobite Restaurant at the Ben Wyvis Hotels features dark wood furnishings, crisp white linen; chandeliers and impressive views through the ceiling height windows that are set off by the lavish regal curtain cascade. The food is as simple and natural as possible, local favourites and a range of signature dishes feature on the menu and local and organic produce is used where possible.
After dinner, Strathview Bar and Lounge is the perfect place to unwind. Enjoy local entertainment or sit by the cosy log fire and sample an extensive range of over 60 whiskies and hand-picked wines.

Directions to Ben Wyvis Hotel in Strathpeffer

Situated 18 miles from Inverness Airport and just seven miles from Dingwall train station, the Ben Wyvis hotel is really easy to get to.

By car
Follow the A9 to Inverness and Dingwall. The A862 is signposted Dingwall, then follow signposts for Strathpeffer. Take the A834 and the Ben Wyvis Hotel is on your left hand side.

Please note the hotel is closed on December 24th, 25th and 31st 2016 and on January 1st 2017. Unless otherwise stated guests booked on a rate/package including Dinner receive a 3 course Table D'Hote Menu, with the option to purchase from the a la carte menu at a bracketed (reduced) supplement.

Guests to the Ben Wyvis Hotel can enjoy the latest DVD’s but in traditional surroundings in the hotel’s very own 32-seat cinema where original cinema fittings have been installed to create a truly unique feature.

Ben Wyvis Hotel is in the midst of five acres of grounds and woodland. The gardens are well kept and there is plenty of opportunity for guests to explore and stretch their legs through the gardens and woodland walks.

In the summer the light nights are pleasant for an after dinner stroll, in the autumn the trees turn gold, red and brown and with the stunning views of Ben Wyvis , the Iron Age hill, fort of Knock Farril, the Cromarty Firth and surrounding mountains make brisk morning walks in the sunshine a real experience to remember.

Visitors can enjoy the Victorian architecture and buildings still standing today such as the Strathpeffer Railway and Strathpeffer Pavillion. The Victorians would flock to Strathpeffer for relaxing Scottish holidays and use the town’s pump room as a spa along with the Pavilion. 

Golf
For golfers, the Strathpeffer Golf Club sits in walking distance from town centre. Visitors are welcome and the golf course offers stunning views of the Peffery valley and Black Isle.

Castle Leod

Currently the seat of the Chief of the Clan Mackenzie, Castle Leod is today owned by the Earl and Countess of Cromarty. It is a pre-15th century castle made of sandstone and described as one of the most beautiful, romantic and unspoilt castles in the Highlands.

Museum of Childhood

Located in Strathpeffer old Victorian train station, the highland museum of childhood. The Museum tells the story of childhood tales and crofters in the town area, there are toys and treasures from 200 years ago where you are encouraged to dress up and play with the traditional toys.
