Shropshire
Tucked away on the English and Welsh Border, Shropshire is a real surprise as there is so much around and about to do. For a start there are over 32 castles - a legacy of Shropshire's border heritage, Shropshire is also the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution at Ironbridge with 10 hands-on museums to explain it all. Shrewsbury, birth place of Charles Darwin, is one of England’s finest medieval towns and still very much intact and home to the longest running flower show in the country. Shropshire’s gastronomic capital, Ludlow, with its castle is home to a terrific food festival and more delicatessens and hostelries than you can shake a bread-stick at. According to Charles I Bridgnorth simply has the finest view in England. Take the cliff railway and see for yourself. There’s the Royal Air Force Museum, at Cosford bear Telford and best of all it’s free admission! Other places of interest are: Burford House & Gardens, Carding Mill Valley for great walks & Views. Hawkstone Hall - gardens, park and golf course and Shrewsbury Castle & Museum. Or take a nostagic steam train journey through Shropshire Countryside between Kidderminstar and Bridgnorth on the Severn Valley Railway
